EV Myth, Busted: You Do Not Have to Buy a Separate Level 2 Charger
There is a misconception, and a stigma around it, that stops people from buying an EV. The fear is that you have to buy an expensive separate Level 2 charger and pay a contractor and a charger company to install it, and the confusion around what is included only makes it worse.
That is not how it works. Your Level 2 charger comes with your car in virtually every new EV you buy today. The only separate step, if you want faster charging at home, is having a 240-volt outlet installed.
Even in the worst case, if you do not have a 240-volt outlet available, you can still use the included Level 2 charger that comes with virtually any make and any model of EV, plugged into your existing 120-volt outlet, with the adapters included with your EV in virtually every case. It will charge more slowly at 120 volts, but you are not stuck without home charging.
Even an experienced EV driver can miss this, and I did, until I got close to buying my Blazer EV.

Reversible: Lightning Lime outside, white inside — emblems on both sides. The extra-large crossed-flags EVIS emblem rides on the back, with a smaller chest badge on the front, and the emblems appear on both faces of the jacket. Four hand pockets, two on each face, and elastic cuffs so the sleeves push up and stay up.
Lightly insulated — warm in mildly cool weather. Named Lightning because lightning is electric, and so are the cars EVIS™ covers.
On most apparel the checkered flags are borrowed glory, decoration trading on a racing heritage the garment never earned. On the Lightning they are a factual claim: the cars EVIS covers really are the quickest things on the street, so the flags on the back are reporting, not hype.
Also in the works: Eva and Gretchen denim jackets and jeans, two T-shirts, and the EVIS Greystoke evening jacket.
The emblem pulses at 128 beats per minute with the EVIS™ kick and bass. Sound starts muted; tap the sound control for the beat.
Seven caps. Two genders. One emblem. The soft, unstructured dad cap in black, white, pink, baby blue, red, Lightning Lime, and woodland camo, with the EVIS™ emblem embroidered on the front of every one.
The shop is only half of EVIS™. The other half is the EV Information Society group on Facebook: EV shoppers and enthusiasts comparing cars, busting myths, and watching Eva and Gretchen present the EVIS™ Great 30.
Eva, the EVIS™ spokeswoman, on the beach with an EV.“Oh wow, I wonder how far it can go on a charge? Can I charge it up at home? Can I bring my mother?”Eva invites you to the 2027 1st Annual EVIS Great 30™ EV Awards™, co-hosted with Gretchen.Gretchen's debut, the reel posted to Facebook: “Eva's been holding down this beach by herself, so EVIS sent backup. I'm Gretchen.”
